Best Post Surgical Compression Garments

Best Post Surgical Compression Garments

A man’s best friend is a dog, a woman's best friend is a diamond, and a patient’s best friend after cosmetic surgery is the right compression garment. Having the right compression garment helps to minimize swelling, promote faster healing, and it supports your new contours for optimal results.

What is a compression garment?

When most people think of compression garments they think of popular brands that boast about hiding fat under your favorite outfit. While that's something we also offer and is similar, our post-surgical compression garments have been designed by plastic surgeons to help facilitate the healing process and enhance results.

“It’s hard to overstate the importance of compression dressings,” says Dr. Taylor Pollei, a plastic surgeon with offices in Beverly Hills and Mission Viejo, CA. “Something so simple can really make a dramatic difference in the surgical outcome.”

Compression garments are made from power-net with a three-dimensional stretch that provides comfort and support that also works to direct subcutaneous fluid (swelling) to be reabsorbed by the body. Our material also contains antimicrobial properties to keep wounds healthy and we use breathable fabric to help avoid any skin irritations. It’s also important that your compression garment fits perfectly, because of this, we have compression garments for nearly every part of the body in all sizes ranging from 5XS up to 7XL.

Now let’s find the best post-surgical garment for you.

Breast Augmentation: For breast augmentations, you'll want a wireless bra that has claps in the front that is made out of lycra for a three-dimensional stretch. This bra will provide the comfort and support needed post-surgery.
Chest Contouring For Men: Although most physicians will suggest just using bandages, patients have found this vest to have the additional compression and support they needed post-surgery.
Brazilian Butt Lift: It's important that the garment you choose has support below and above the incision. We suggest this thigh control garment that comes up just under your breasts. Additionally, you don't want any compression on your butt, just a nice lift. All of our compression garments support a nice lift without compressing to allow for the perfect lift.
Tummy Tuck and Liposuction: Tummy tucks need more support than just an abdominal band. It's suggested that you use a full body shaper that extends to the thighs and up under the breasts.
Arm lift (Brachioplasty): Keeping your arms tight after your arm lift is vital. With this bra, you'll have the additional compression needed in the surrounding areas.
Thigh Lift: Compressing the thighs and surrounding areas after a thigh lift can help with additional contouring and preventing swelling. Patients have found this full-body suit to best fit their needs after a thigh lift.

“During the early phases of healing, compression helps to reduce the overall swelling and maintain an even contour,” Buford says. “In my practice, we use these garments for anyone undergoing liposuction, a tummy tuck, or both.” -Englewood, CO plastic surgeon Dr. Greg Buford

How Long Should The Compression Garment be Worn?

Typically, patients are advised by their physician to wear their compression 24/7 for a minimum of 2-6 months post-op depending on the procedure and extent of surgery. Wearing your compression garment after surgery helps to promote healing, protect your scars, and enhance results. Our customers see such amazing results that they continue to wear them for up to a year post-op.

How Tight Should the Compression Garment Be?

The fit of your garment should be firm but not too tight to where it is constricting breathing or movement. Make sure that your bandages are smooth and not too tight as the added pressure can cause irritation. For best results, your compression garment should cover from below the lowest point of surgery to above the highest. For example, a compression garment for a tummy tuck should go from the thighs to under the breasts. We have compression garments in all shapes, sizes and, colors ranging from 5XS to 7XL.
